What is mentoring?
Mentoring is an extremely rewarding relationship between two people with the goal of professional and personal development. The “mentor” is usually an experienced individual who shares knowledge, experience, and advice with a “mentee”, who is less experienced in the subject covered. Mentors become trusted advisers, teachers and role models. Mentoring can help you to remove your limitations and achieve your potential, get advice and support from someone who has ‘been there, done that’ and accelerate your soft skills development.
How does Elemed’s Mentoring 2.0 work?
We handpick your mentor based on your personal experience, challenges and goals. We use our tried-and-tested, top secret matching technique – plus lots of information about you both – to ensure that your mentor is the best person to help you grow. We then introduce you, set you up with all the resources and guidance you need for a successful and rewarding experience, and empower you to use your 6 hours of mentoring time as best suits you!
Who are your mentors?
Our mentors are some of the most experienced and talented professionals in the industry, from senior VPs at global medical device companies through to world-class consultants with over 30 years of experience. We have a fantastic mix of mentors from around the world, who have experienced many challenges and learnings of their own throughout their careers.
What happens after I purchase Mentoring 2.0?
We will ask you to fill in a preferences form detailing your career history and goals, your mentoring goals and more! This is a crucial step in matching you with the perfect mentor – we advise that you spend about 15 minutes filling it in.
Once we’ve received your preferences, we will aim to match you with your mentor within two weeks. Once matched, we will ask you and your mentor to sign a couple of documents. Then you’ll be added to a dedicated online space full of resources to get you started with your mentoring, where you can also chat to other mentees for advice, ideas or support.
How do you choose who gets paired with who?
We use a detailed preferences gathering process plus our expert matchmaking skills and an extra special, secret ingredient to match you with a mentor who is perfect for helping you meet your mentoring goals 😉
When can my first session start?
How much time do I need to invest?
The 6 hours of mentoring sessions can be divided up how you and your mentor see fit. Smaller sessions of 30 minutes every couple of weeks might make sense, or maybe you will want to book in 2 hours every 3 months. It is entirely up to you, your schedule and what works the best for you and your personal goals.
What should my sessions consist of?
Your sessions should be focused on developing your soft skills and learning from your mentor’s experience. They are not intended for consulting advice or technical training – you may forfeit your menteeship if this path is taken.
How do you ensure confidentiality?
All mentors and mentees will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. The subject matter of discussions should not cover company secrets, and we recommend not discussing highly sensitive information.
What about conflict of interest?
Please let us know in the preferences form whether you have any restrictions on who you can be matched with or other things to know.
Can I be hired by my mentor?
No. The goal of this initiative is professional development, not recruitment. All mentors will be required to sign a non-solicitation agreement.
