Call for mentors

We are looking for experienced and first time mentors to be part of Elemed’s mentoring academy! If you are open minded, flexible, solution oriented and willing to share your experience to help others, we want to hear from you. This is a fully structured 7 month program, we provide the resources, toolkits, frameworks, webinars and community – you provide 1 hour / month for 7 months to your mentee, an open ear and your experience. It’s free for mentors, and we will donate 30% of proceeds to a charity of your choice.

What a mentor does

    • HELPS SET MENTEE GOALS – Use the Elemed goal-setting framework to help ensure goals are practical and useful
    • LISTENS – Get a clear view of your mentee’s aspirations
    • SHARES EXPERIENCE & GIVE ADVICE – Even if you are not an ‘expert’, an outside perspective makes all the difference
    • ASKS QUESTIONS – Empowers and helps the mentee overcome challenges by asking good questions
    • RECOMMENDS TASKS & RESOURCES – Share and recommend TedTalks, books, or other useful resources or tasks that could support the mentee in achieving their goals
    • BEING AVAILABLE – Maintain regular contact, and acting as sounding board when needed
    • RESPECT CONFIDENTIALITY – Ensure what happens in mentoring, stays in mentoring
    • ENCOURAGES INDEPENDENCE – You are setting the stage for intrinsic and ongoing growth
    • INSPIRES CONFIDENCE – Inspire your mentee to tackle more challenging goals and milestones

    • Mentors will have the ability to earn 14 recertification credits for their Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) credentials.

Do I have what it takes to be a mentor?

Executive mentor

  • 18+ years experience in your field
  • Multilayer leadership experience (managing leaders)
  • Responsibility managing across multiple geographies
  • Currently in a VP level role or similar
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

Mentor

  • 12+ years experience within your field
  • Either strong technical experience in QA/RA/Cl as senior subject matter expert
  • OR Leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills

FAQ

When does the program start?
All applications need to be made by the 1st of August 2020. We will communicate matches in August 2020 and the program will run from 1st of September 2020 until 31st of March 2021

How much time do I need to invest in this program?
This is a 7 months program. We recommend meeting with your mentee once a month for approx 1 hour and being available if needed in between. It is up to the mentor and mentee to set the rhythm and tempo of the sessions.

Is there any cost for mentors?
No, the Elemed’s mentoring academy is free of charge for mentors.

Is this group or individual mentoring?
Mentors and mentees will meet on an individual basis, to ensure both parties get the most out of the relationship. However you can have more than one mentee.

How do you choose who gets paired with who?
The application process gathers information on your background, skills, availability and interests, to ensure that we are making the best possible match.

I have never been a mentor before… What support do you offer?
We will provide an optional introductory webinar on how to get started and best practises. Elemed has created a range of tools, templates and resources in order to help you along your journey as a mentor. We will be organising virtual meetups where you can connect with other mentors, and a support group for all mentors to discuss and share best practises with each other. We will be checking in with your mentee and sharing feedback directly with you for your own continuous improvement purposes.

I have a clause in my contract saying that I can’t carry out another job, is that an issue?
No. Being a mentor is not a job – it is a learning experience and part of your ongoing personal and professional development. This is a voluntary activity and not a job. We will donate 30% of all proceeds to a charity of your choice.

How do you ensure confidentiality?
All mentors and mentees will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
The subject matter of discussions should not cover company secrets, and we recommend not discussing highly sensitive information.
We will also avoid pairing direct competitors – please let us know in the application form if this is something we should know.
