You’ve done the work, put in the effort and finally, you secured an interview.
You feel confident and excited. Then, the first thing you’re asked is to talk about yourself. Easy? Not so. This could be the most difficult question you have to answer during your time with the interviewer.
As you’ve probably guessed already, this is not the time to go into your life story. It’s not an invitation to talk about everything about yourself. It’s an opportunity to give the other person key information about you as a professional. Take no more than two minutes to answer it and be sure to cover the important points that matter.
Here is how you answer the “Tell me about yourself” question:
1. State your name
2. Educational background
3. The number of years of experience you have (and doing what?)
4. Briefly describe your current work situation
5. Give a random fact about yourself
These tips have worked for many candidates who’ve gone through Elemed’s career coaching courses. Be prepared, rehearse if needed, and try them at your next interview!
